I am writing this from an alternate reality, where day is night, we drive/walk on the left, I’m functionally illiterate, and the Q-Tips are black: I’m in Japan.
When I'm here, I entertain the idea of doing everything differently. I ate salad for breakfast. I watched an entire baseball game (Tokyo vs. Yokohama--subway series!). I visited an artificial island and took pictures of Pacific nightmare crabs.
I'll go home. I'll get back to normal, back to routine. But I'll be a little different. I'll have soup for breakfast. I'll be open to checking out something I've never considered before. I'll see things from the other side. And then I'll start rewrites and rehearsals.
